Improv Everywhere turns a subway platform into an art gallery opening. This stunt was a few months ago but they've set it up again today so if you're in NYC, pop by 23rd Street. I've seen that idea of just putting signs on regular things described as "declared art." There's a guy named Paul Richard who does it on the street in New York City. He also deserves credit, I think, for describing certain sidewalk objects as having a "uric patina."
Best your-medium-is-dying piece I've read lately is another smart, glad-I-read-that piece from Clay Shirky. It reminds me of those emergency shows when one doctor keeps doing the CPR on the patient and another doctor has to pull him off and shout at him, "He's gone! There's nothing you can do!"
